Stefanie P asked:
There is this sort of a light white film over the table now. It’s a wood table so I thought pledge would be OK. I used it on the leg and nothing happened so i used it on the rest of the table and now there is a white film over it. I’m nervous to try anything to remove it because I don’t want to ruin it more. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Also, what is the best way to take care of wood furniture? It is a dark cherry finish dining room table.

If its a gloss finish, then mr sheen is ok for it to shine it up. If the film is only a powder residue that comes off when you wipe with your finger, then simply wipe off with a dry cloth and start again with somthing else.

The table probably has a paste wax finish. Get a paste wax from the hardware store and use it instead. You might also be able to clean the residue with Formby’s furniture cleaner.
FWIW, I recommend using a product called “Furniture Guardsman” instead of pledge.

Murphys oil soap works wonders on wood. It cleans and shines it up wonderfully!

Well, me too I think pledge ruined my table.
What I have is a sor of asymetric “stain” with the edges that are very shiny. You can only see it with natural light by looking at the side. I love that table and so dissapointed that I ruined it using what I was thinking was the right product. I have contacted Johnson and johnson (Pledge’s compagny) and talking with them.
I’ll let you know
